Library of Omissions and Inclusions

Hello,
I’d like to ask you to lend a book, text, or any other form of publication, for a temporary reading room housing an unconventional body of knowledge and experience that is curated by the very community that is using it. I am particularly interested in women writers, forgotten histories, intersectionalist practices — in material that is still missing in our established libraries and databases, does not conform with the canon of Western, white, patriarchal academia, mainstream publishing, or is marginalised for other reasons. What would you like to add to such a collection? Which books, novels, poems, comics, scholarly essays or self-published texts are relevant to you, changed the way you think about yourself and the world, or opened up a new horizon? This library is a growing resource accessible in temporary reading rooms, which travel to different venues and communities. If you’d like to contribute a book or any other material please download the invitation letter and check out the growing index catalog.

The Library of Omissions and Inclusions in the exhibition Meaning Making Meaning, A-venue Gothenburg 16 March — 2 April 2016

The Library of Omissions and Inclusions in the exhibition Meaning Making Meaning, curated by Gabo Camnitzer, builds upon the Critical Practices—150 years of art education conference at Valand Academy in October 2015. It aims to make sense of the role of art and aesthetics in pedagogical practices (and vice versa) by shedding light on its variety of practices. To this end, Meaning Making Meaning will seek to situate artistic pedagogical practice not only as the domain of art education, but something utilized in all areas of education. Therefore the exhibition and workshop series will feature a broad spectrum of teachers, educational theorists and artists involved in teaching, and across all settings from early childhood through to university and outside institutional structures.
A-venue, Kungsportsavenyn 25, Gothenburg

Library of Omission and Inclusions at Let’s Mobilize: What is Feminist Pedagogy?, a three-day international event at Valand Academy (12—14 Oct 2016) investigating queer and feminist pedagogies. What do they mean today, why are they urgent, and how can they be enacted inside and outside of institutional settings.
